Earth to Bridgette…last week was rough I had the flu. Being sick is not fun, especially when you have finals and self-employed. Thankfully, my husband nursed me and kept me hydrated and fed. It was tough but I made it through the Self Exploration Paper and staying on top of two real estate closings for this month.
Meanwhile I am looking so forward to the Reveal Show to see my fellow challengers shine. I am up this morning with the new goal of having a plan going into the new year. I am starting it today! Lately I have become obsessed with Dave Ramsey’s “Total Money Makeover”. I am reading his books, listening to the radio show, and visiting the website. It’s quite interesting how the money makeover parallels to weight loss.
This year has proven to be “My Year”. I have learned so much about health and fitness, now I have obtained financial knowledge to change my future forever. If you are familiar with the Total Money Makeover, I am expeditiously trying to finish Baby Step 1. I will change my family tree with healthier living and financial peace.
It’s been a great year for me and my family. I cannot thank the Subway Challenge enough for giving me the tools and resources to correct my steps. The extra layer of confidence obtained through this challenge has been phenomenal. I going into the new year a changed woman. I am very committed to my new lifestyle and welcome the obstacles, because I am geared up to handling it and move on.

Hello World!
The final weigh in was a dynamic event for all challengers. We were able to discuss our strengths, weakness, and exchange helpful advice. The journey has been sweet and so much knowledge has been gained. I am so excited about the days to come and my new found lifestyle.
My Thanksgiving holiday was Great! I relaxed and shut down most technology and phone. I enjoyed my family and did not overeat at all. My husband promised the family a Wii, and my sweet mother-in-law pointed out the after Thanksgiving sale at Sam’s for the purchase. We got up at 5:00 a.m. and off we went, no lines or chaos, went up to the register and purchased the Wii. This is our early family Christmas gift.
Played the Wii tonight, bowled like no other. So excited for the holidays and school break. I am working on final papers this week, so I will stay focused and exercise to relieve stress.
Looking forward to Dec 5th PT test at Piedmont….
Thanks everybody for the support!

Hello World!
Okay I have to admit that Birthday Week celebration is absolutely fun. We made it to the Atlanta Botanical Garden and the Georgia Aquarium. It was a beautiful day yesterday and all attractions were amazing. It’s been a while since I saw both venues. The Botanical Garden has changed so much. They have a new two-story main building. My favorite display was the Orchid House, I love orchids especially the purple ones. The Aquarium was nice as well, they are during lots of new construction. Enjoyed the penguin exhibit and of course the Wow window with the Whale Sharks. I can just sit there for days looking at the school of fish swim by.
I forgot to mention my mini triathlon I experienced yesterday. I made it to swimming lessons and immediately finished at 11:30 a.m. and ran over to the Forum at 12:00 noon for workout. I meet with the other Subway Get Fit Challengers for a group workout. It was a great workout…intense full body workout. Everybody did great and made it to the end for the full hour. This morning I am sore but it feel so nice working that body hard. I am committed to working my body to the fullest. The trainer advised us to get our body out of that Comfort Zone!
Comfort Zone is gone for sure…it’s time for that change. I want these pounds off. I do not want health issues related to weight…something you can control! This morning I listened to my favorite pastor Joel Osteen and the birthday message was so excellent. His message was “Silencing the Voice of the Accuser.” You must get rid of the negative voices in your head and eliminate that excess baggage. Forget the mistakes of yesterday press forward and do good things today. Forgive yourself and move on so you can accomplish your dreams.
In closing, I am on my way to the Atlanta Zoo and the CNN Center. Lovin the City Pass. My husband cooked a fabulous breakfast for the family. Looking forward to a great week and good workouts.

Hello World!
I have to share the best meditation received to date:
Best Teacher Anyone Could Ask For
by Jane Powell on November 14, 2009
“Your life is a series of experiences.”
Each life experience makes you stronger, more knowledgeable and more prepared for what lies ahead.
Though it may not seem like it at the time, the setbacks and hardships you face actually help you march forward.
Don’t isolate yourself from life experiences. They instruct you and guide you into your future. Learn from your experiences. They are the best teacher anyone could ask for.

Okay, this was a good wake up call for me. I reflected on my eight months with the Challenge and it has been wonderful. I have learned so much about me and my body. My goal was to loss 50 pds, but the progress so far has been mind blowing. I have had some ups and downs along the way, but no sweat on it.
I thought with the slow down of the Real Estate Market it would be perfect for me to concentrate on my weight loss goals. (Right!) I did have a couple of months of good momentum of daily workouts without interruptions. I think I forgot about the power of prayer…praying for business and financial increase. The Lord will answer prayers and you may not be ready for them. Majority of my business is referral and around June business picked up and has not stop yet.
Having a hectic schedule can be a blessing and a distraction. The key to a hectic schedule is prioritizing your day. I have learned to do that better. Now to make a long story short, I have summed up my thinking from months previously til now. After reaching close to a twenty pound weight loss, I believe I got into a maintenance mode. My workouts dropped from daily to about three-four times a week and throwing in more fun food. I am very conscious about my food intake though. If I feel its too much I will slow it down.
Learning from my experiences I am ready to conquer this goal in full again. I am worth the remainder of the weight loss. I know by the end of the year 25pds can be reached and come March 2010 the remainder 25pds gone. March 2010 will mark one year from starting the weight loss challenge. I am so proud of myself for sticking with it and learning so much. This is life but I can beat the Battle of the Bulge. I must become healthy and eliminate this excess weight.
I watch the Monique Show last night and her theme last night was becoming healthy especially in the Black community. This is extremely important and children learn from the adults around them. It is imperative for me to be a good role model for my step-children, nieces, nephews, and anyone else. I am officially ready to “Do the darn thing.”
Today will be a busy day for me, swimming lessons at 10:30 a.m. and group fitness at 12:00 p.m. Then, birthday celebration begins again at the Atlanta Zoo and the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. Yesterday, we spent so much time at the Atlanta History Center and ran out of time to go anywhere else. The Atlanta History Center is outstanding. The Swan House and Tulle-Smith Farm is amazing. Atlanta has such rich history. The City Pass is worth every dollar.
Take the time and visit your city “The Phoenix” Atlanta, GA.

Hello World,
I need to get into bed, but it dawn on me that I didn’t blog today. I bought a book last week but started reading it on Sunday. The book is “The Total Money Makeover” by Dave Ramsey. I love this book! My sister told me about Dave Ramsey’s Radio Show years ago and how she learned a lot about personal finance with his advise.
This has been a constant quest for me to subscribe to a common sense financial planning strategy to build financial freedom and wealth. My husband and I have become committed to reducing expenses and eliminating debt. I like the fact that Dave Ramsey references financial fitness and physical fitness the same way. People must identify the true problem and develop a plan to combat those issues. I should finish this book soon and already have taken notes for the Long Family Total Money Makeover.
I know the remainder of this year and 2010 will be “Absolutely Outstanding”. I have learned so much and stomped down fear and embraced change.
Going to bed in order to get up and work it out at the track.

Hello World,
Another beautiful day outside in November. Living in the South you can’t predict the weather from day-to-day. I have grown to appreciate the good days of the weather due to becoming physically active. Today I got up again to walk the track and conquer these cramps and being in a moody state. A beautiful day in the neighborhood and to receive the rays of the sun (Vitamin D).
Now I am looking forward to going to the Coke a Cola Museum today on my City Pass. My husband surprised me with a City Pass to local Atlanta attractions for my birthday. The pass can be used for nine days to six different attractions. I am so excited to feel better after days of pure agony. I noticed across from Centennial Park there is a Subway, so we will walk over and have lunch there. Well time to go shower and to start Birthday week.
Talk to you soon.

Hello World,
Okay I had an epiphany this morning in the bed in a fetal position. Why am I curled up and determined not to step foot out of the house due to menstruation. I am so new to this process and pain. For several years until this year I have experienced an irregular menstruation, I went maybe a year or two without a cycle. I didn’t complain because who wants to be bothered with it. Silly me….I think you would want a regular cycle or keep up with it because of family planning.
I can say at this time last year I was not dealing with pain and blotting. Silly me…my husband and I decided last year that we would move forward with preparing for a baby. This mean getting my reproductive system in gear for a baby. I can say since I been on the challenge I have experience FIVE menstruation cycle. (Whoopie!) This is a big improvement. I need to Ovulate in order to have a baby.
I think every cycle gets a little more discomforting each time. As the old saying goes “No pain, no gain.” I am so thankful my body is getting into gear but I just have to get use of the adjustment. As I continue to lose weight my body continues to respond. I tend to believe some of the stomach pain, back aches, headaches, and tender chest last week was attributed to my cycle. I am not used to the symptoms or process.
In closing, I found my way out of the bed and put on my workout gear and headed to the track. I was able to walk a mile and just thank GOD for helping to get up. The sun was shining and the day was beautiful. I will not let this process take me down. I feel so much better but I have to learn the signs again and have a plan to conquer this process.
Shout out to my dear husband for putting up with me on my emotional roller-a-coaster last week and this week. (It’s all for the bundle of joy to come hopefully next year.)

Hello World!
Sorry for the delay in blogging, your girl was hit with a stomach bug which took me out for a couple of days. (Ginger ale has been my best friend) I hated to miss swimming this past Saturday due to my bug. Today was my first full day of being back out and doing something active.
Today was vote day for me in the City of Atlanta. When my husband return from dropping off my stepsons this morning, he was talking on the cell phone motioning me to get into the car. I pointed to the street for us to walk to the elementary school. He looked at me and pause, then he knodded okay. He ended the conversation and we walked to the school about one mile away. Such a pleasant walk! I love my hubby so much.
I decided that we will walk to certain places that are close to the house for extra physical activity as well.
So I will be back in touch soon.

While I was up I thought why not blog. I had to clean up my work emails (363 total) and schedule some events in my electronic calendar. My focus right now is to get well-organized and schedule my workout times daily. I am a routine person, so when things get chaotic I fold and shut down.
While up I in a munching mood, so I noticed my husband had a salad. (which he knows to share but didn’t until reprimanded, LOL.) An american salad with veggie turkey meat on top. I know its late but the veggie slice cold cut helps my protein count.
On my way to bed, I feel like process was certainly made with the organization of email and events. I feel so empowered. Tomorrow will be a great workout day and real estate day as well. Did not start on my paper as planned…move to tomorrow. ( I promise!)
